Acupuncture for tennis elbow and other injuries

It doesn’t have to be tennis! Joint pain is never nice and when it affects a joint like the elbow it can make everyday actions and movements both difficult and painful. Tennis elbow is a common name for inflammation of the tendons and muscles around the outside of the elbow joint. It gets its name as these are the muscles and tendons that are used in the act of striking a tennis ball with a racket and can occur in tennis players, but it is usually caused by other things. Hedge clipping, bed making and car washing are all the types of repetitive actions that can trigger the inflammation and have resulted in people coming to see me for acupuncture treatment.

A weekly session of acupuncture for about 4 to 6 weeks will usually result in a good improvement in both movement and pain levels. If you get a chance to have some remedial massage therapy on the joint as well, then research from China suggests that your recovery can be even better.

There is more detail about the research here. https://www.healthcmi.com/Acupuncture-Continuing-Education-News/1329-acupuncture-proven-to-heal-tennis-elbow

It’s just as well that I’m qualified in sports massage and can incorporate massage techniques into your acupuncture session as well!
